Vegetation Management With Sheep.
Since 2021 High Country Shepherding Inc has been implementing sheep grazing to manage vegetation in the forestry industry. Rather than spraying with chemicals or manual brushing, we take large flocks of sheep to replanted cut blocks to graze competitive vegetation. This leaves behind less dead vegetation, allows the seedlings space to thrive, thus maintaining a more natural environment after we leave while still meeting your goals. Our sheep are carefully selected to thrive in this environment, with full veterinary health checks before heading out for the summer.
Forestry isn’t the only industry where our services can be utilized, the energy sector has a need for vegetation management. Whether it’s power lines, oil and gas reclamation and management or solar energy, High Country Shepherding can help you meet your vegetation management goals in a sustainable and safe manner.
What We Do.
We use sheep grazing in order to manage vegetation in a variety of different environments and applications. Silviculture is our speciality, but we are able to adapt to best suit your land management needs. Using traditional herding and grazing practices, we provide an alternative to herbicide and manual vegetation management.
Who We Are.
High Country Shepherding is comprised of both four legged and two legged team members! Our border collies are trained to handle rough terrain and large flocks, whilst our guardian dogs work together to keep the sheep and shepherds safe from wildlife.
Our shepherds are provided on the job training, they are carefully selected to ensure the job gets done safely, efficiently and thoroughly.
